Overview

The Database viewer gives non-administrative users access to company data. With this tool, users can view, create, and edit company asset data.

  • Technically speaking, the displayed data consists of collections and elements stored in the Cotalker platform.
  • Elements are usually referred to as assets because they can represent a company's tangible and intangible assets.
  • The Database viewer only displays assets selected through the Database panel.
  • Each company can create and group assets into collections according to its needs.
  • Assets are defined by their internal information, which is usually divided into the following categories:
    • general information,
    • custom information,
    • related assets,
    • related channels,
    • associated surveys

Accessing the Database Viewer

To access the Database viewer:

  • A. From the Main Menu, select Database.
  • B. The Collections panel appears within the Database viewer.
  • C. Select a collection from the list.
  • D. The elements/assets contained within the chosen collection appear in the panel.

Asset Viewer

After selecting an asset (element) from within a collection, the asset viewer window pops up.

The asset viewer gives admins and non-administrative users access to element information and tools in one place.

In summary, from the asset viewer, you can:

Other actions:

  • D. Close: Closes the settings panel without saving changes. Clicking outside the asset window will also bring you back to the database viewer.
  • E. Deactivate/Activate: Makes the element available or unavailable in the collection.
  • F. Save: Saves the element with the latest changes made.

Create Asset

To create a new asset (element):

  • A. From the Main Menu, select Database.
  • B. The Collections panel appears within the Database viewer.
  • C. Select a collection from the list.
  • D. Press the + to create a new asset (element) to open the Create settings panel.

The Create settings panel appears as shown below:

Options:

  • 1. Closes the settings window.
  • 2. Saves the element with the current settings.

Settings:

  • A. General information: Basic element information and associated child elements.
  • B. Additional fields: Set or edit additional field values.
  • C. Associated surveys: This field is empty until the element is saved and associated with a survey.
