General Description
Groups are the primary place to interact and exchange information in the Cotalker environment. From a group's panel, you can go to channels and subgroups. Depending on the type of group, you can create and view tasks, create other channels, or access a link to other information.
Group Types
Groups – which can only be created by administrators – are classified into four kinds:
Standard Groups
Normally, we refer to standard groups simply as groups. They incorporate a list of users and include channels, i.e., chat rooms for messaging and answering surveys. Groups can have subgroups and more than one channel.
Workflow Groups
Workflow groups, also known as task groups, are similar to standard groups in that they include channels and subgroups. Their great advantage is that they host tasks with their corresponding channels. You can access task details either through the group panel or the channel workspace.
Link Groups
This kind of group is a link that can be found in the main menu bar or group panel. It can redirect the user to another source of information, whether internal or external to the Cotalker environment.
Category Groups
All group types can be grouped into categories. These category groups then appear as sub-menus in the Main Menu Bar.
Group Display
Groups can be displayed either in group view or task view.
- Task View: This is the default view for workflow groups. It displays tasks in one of the available task views.
- Group View: Contains the group panel, which can display sub-groups, folders, links, channels, and tasks. Standard groups are always displayed in group view. Although this is not the default view for Task groups, the admin can set them to be displayed in group view.
